MISSOULA, Mont., Aug. 13, 2009 – Children at the Joseph Residence will soon learn to "play" in a whole new way, thanks to a $6,000 grant from the Qwest Foundation. The money will be used to purchase musical instruments, provide one-on-one music lessons and offer group music workshops for children at the Poverello Center's transitional housing facility for homeless families.
WHAT
Qwest employee Peggy Boldman applied for the grant as part of Qwest's Family and Work Development Program. Through the program, a board made up of Qwest's management employees and employees represented by the Communications Workers of America and International Brotherhood of Electrical Works allocates funds each year. Qwest employees nominate qualifying organizations for which they volunteer, and if selected, the organization receives a grant check from Qwest in the employee's name.

David Gibson, Qwest Montana president, presented Joseph Residence Program Director Eran Fowler with a check for $6,000 on July 8.
WHY
The Joseph Residence at Maclay Commons is a transitional housing facility for previously homeless families. The Residence's Youth Enrichment Program aims to enhance the lives of homes and at-risk children and their parents in Missoula by providing fun, educational and empowering activities.
